The idea behind a geo-grid scan
A Google Maps ranking isn’t one number — it changes depending on where the person searching is standing. A business can sit at position 1 for a search made 200 meters from its front door and be completely invisible three kilometers further out. A single “we’re ranked #2” from a normal rank checker only tells you the truth for the one spot it was measured from.
A geo-grid scan fixes that blind spot by measuring the same search from many locations at once. SeoMap lays a configurable GPS grid — 5×5 up to 15×15, square or circular, with point spacing you set yourself — over a business’s service area. Every single point on that grid is a real, simulated Google Maps search, run as either a desktop or mobile query, checking exactly where the business lands in that location’s results.
From 225 individual searches to one heatmap
Running a scan that large one point at a time would be useless without a way to read it at a glance. That’s what the heatmap does: each grid point is color-coded by the position found there — green for a top-3 placement, amber for positions 4–10, red for 11–20, and gray where the business doesn’t show up in the top 20 at all. A 13×13 grid (169 points) completes in under three minutes, with the map filling in point by point in real time as the scan runs, so you can watch a business’s actual visibility take shape instead of waiting on a static report.
Clicking any individual point opens the full top 20 results found at that exact coordinate — including competitors’ ratings, review counts, and whether a listing was an ad — so a red or gray point isn’t a dead end, it’s the start of a competitor check.
What a scan produces
Once a scan finishes, it rolls up into three numbers — ARP, ATRP and SoLV, explained in detail in ARP vs. ATRP — plus a full competitor ranking across every scanned point. Businesses get matched to a scan by their exact Google CID/Place-ID rather than by name, which matters anywhere a business name isn’t unique (three separate “Handyman Pete” listings in the same metro area, for instance).

A scan is priced per grid point, not per project: 1 credit per point queued, 3 credits per point live, with the exact cost shown before you commit. There’s no separate “scan package” to buy.
